Dear Parishioners of St. Rose of Lima & Our Lady of Charity,

The last few weeks have been challenging for me not only moving into a new rectory but also establishing work offices in both locations and being responsible for two parishes that I have never worked with before. I know that with God’s help all will work itself out. As I mentioned when the Archdiocese decided to give some of us the responsibility of running two parishes that some adjustments would be necessary.

One of the areas that needed to be addressed immediately was the position of Director of Religious Education (DRE). The DRE is more than just someone who oversees the PREP program. A DRE should also make available during the year religious adult education programs which could consist of Scripture study, adult faith formation, book club or even some type of adult seasonal programs tied in with Advent or Lent.

As the parishioners of St. Rose are aware that once Sr. Katie retired the PREP and religious education programs have been in flux. At Our Lady of Charity Parish the long time DRE, Mrs. Jeanne Turn has retired leaving a void in the PREP and religious educations programs there as well.

I am pleased to announce that I have hired Mrs. Eileen Wilson who will over see the PREP and adult education programs in both parishes. Eileen comes with a vast amount of experience in Catholic education. Mrs. Wilson has been a teacher in both Catholic schools and PREP programs. Eileen has also been a principal at several Catholic schools and worked in the Office of Catholic Education for the Archdiocese.

I am confident that with Eileen’s enthusiasm, love of the Catholic faith, and classroom and administrative experience that we will be able to grow the PREP program and establish some enjoyable and spiritually nourishing adult education programs. Please offer a prayer today for Eileen Wilson in her new role and a prayer for the continued success and growth of our two parishes.
